Proficiency Testing Program for Labs (AASHTO re:source)

Does your organization have a laboratory that tests deicing products? AASHTO re:source is looking for you!

Clear Roads is partnering with AASHTO re:source to help laboratories improve and standardize their testing protocols for winter materials used for anti-icing/deicing applications.

Through its new Proficiency Testing Program, AASHTO re:source is helping to improve the quality of test standards, materials, and technician competency at labs that evaluate solid and liquid deicing products. To make this new program more robust, AASHTO re:source is looking for additional laboratories to participate.

Once a year, AASHTO re:source will ship product samples to participating laboratories for testing. At the end of each testing round, the laboratories will receive scores on their testing performance. The scope of testing will include methods such as weight per gallon, corrosion rate, pH, and gradation.

The Proficiency Testing Program is available at no cost for AASHTO member departments; the cost is $275 per year for other participating laboratories.

Formerly the AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL), AASHTO re:source is an industry leader in promoting quality and excellence in construction materials testing through programs including the Proficiency Sample Program, the Laboratory Assessment Program, and the AASHTO Accreditation Program.

If your organization is interested in participating in the new Proficiency Testing Program for deicing products, please contact John Malusky (jmalusky@aashtoresource.org) or Ryan LaQuay (rlaquay@aashtoresource.org) for additional information.
