For many areas of the country, a winter storm could be just around the corner. To ensure agencies of all sizes are ready for what’s to come, the APWA Reporter annually dedicates its October issue to winter maintenance.
A new feature article in this year’s issue highlights three new Clear Roads tools that are designed to help make winter maintenance easier, faster and more cost-effective. The tools include:
- A geospatial tool that incorporates data about roadways, topography, hydrology, and ecology to model the impact of de-icing chemical application on the local environment. Learn more about Clear Roads project 20-05.
- Two-page primers that show the benefits and drawbacks of four different types of non-chloride deicers. Learn more about Clear Roads project 21-03.
- A map-based visualization tool for better operational decisions in real time. Learn more about Clear Roads project 21-06.
